AC Repair — Book a Visit Today

We handle air conditioning repair on central systems and heat pumps across Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia, and the fastest next step is to call us with what you are hearing and feeling at the vents. Most failures we find come down to a handful of parts: a swollen capacitor, a seized fan motor, a clogged drain, a low refrigerant charge from a leak, or a contactor that quit closing. A visit starts with your description, then we check temperatures across the coil, read pressures, and test the electrical side before we tell you what it needs. You get the cause in plain words and your options, and if the repair is not worth it on an old system we will say so.

The AC symptoms we hear most

  • Air is blowing but it feels like room temperature Low refrigerant from a leak, failed compressor, or an outdoor unit that is not running
  • The outdoor unit hums and then shuts off Failed start capacitor, seized fan motor, or a compressor drawing locked-rotor current
  • The breaker trips every hot afternoon Electrical fault, a shorted motor winding, or a compressor pulling high amps under load
  • House is cool downstairs and sticky upstairs Airflow and duct problems, a dirty evaporator coil, or a system undersized for the load
  • Water stains on the ceiling or around the indoor unit Plugged condensate drain, frozen coil melting off, or a cracked drain pan

Search for it as air conditioning repair or air conditioner repair and you land in the same place: one visit, one written quote.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1 Check the thermostat: batteries, and that it is set to COOL with the fan on AUTO and the setpoint below room temperature.
  • 2 Look at your electrical panel for a tripped breaker on the air conditioner or air handler circuit.
  • 3 Pull the filter and hold it to the light. If you cannot see through it, put in a fresh one of the same size.
  • 4 Walk outside and clear grass clippings, leaves, mulch and shrubs back a couple of feet from the outdoor unit, and confirm supply and return vents inside are open and not blocked by furniture.

AC Repair — quick answers

How fast can you get here when the AC quits?

Call us and we will tell you honestly where you sit in the day's schedule. Heat waves fill the board early, so morning calls usually get same-day attention. If someone in the home is elderly or ill, say so and we will move you up.

My AC is not cooling at all. Is that always refrigerant?

No. Low refrigerant is one cause among several. We just as often find a bad capacitor, a failed fan motor, a tripped safety switch from a plugged drain, or a thermostat wiring problem. Guessing at refrigerant on a system that does not need it wastes money.

Can you just top off the refrigerant?

Refrigerant does not get used up, so if the charge is low there is a leak somewhere. We look for it, show you what we found, and quote the repair. Adding refrigerant without fixing the leak means you are paying again next summer.

Is a compressor repair worth it or should I replace the system?

It depends on age, the refrigerant it uses, and what else is worn. On a system past twelve or fifteen years with an older refrigerant, replacement usually makes more sense. We give you both numbers and the reasoning, then you decide.

Why does my outdoor unit ice up in July?

Ice usually points to restricted airflow or low refrigerant. A loaded filter, a dirty evaporator coil, or a blower running slow all drop coil temperature below freezing. Turn the system to fan only to thaw it, then call for air conditioner repair.

How long does a typical AC repair take?

Common part swaps like a capacitor, contactor, or condenser fan motor are often done in one visit inside an hour or two. Leak searches, coil work and compressor changes take longer and sometimes need a return trip once parts arrive.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads. That short conversation tells us whether you need a visit today or tomorrow morning.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and ducts, and the equipment itself. We find the actual cause instead of swapping parts and hoping the noise goes away.

  3. Step 3

    You decide before we work

We explain what failed, what the repair involves, and what we would do if it were our own house. Nothing gets replaced until you say go. Then we test the system before leaving.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old houses and new onesWe are used to century-old homes with retrofitted ductwork and 1970s subdivisions with original returns. Tight crawl spaces, low basement headroom and odd attic runs are normal parts of the day for us, not surprises that stall the job.
  • Built for the swingsHumid summers push AC systems hard and January freezes expose weak igniters and cracked flues. We repair for both extremes across the region, so the fix holds when the weather turns instead of failing the first hard week.
  • Air conditioning and heating bothAir conditioner repair in July, heating repair in January, and the IAQ and airflow problems that hide in between. One crew that knows how your cooling and heating share the same blower and the same duct system.
  • Plain talk, no pressureWe tell you when a repair makes sense and when replacement is the honest answer. No scare tactics about your BTU load, no upsell scripts. You get the condition of the system and a clear next step.
  • All major brands, gas & electricEvery major HVAC brand, gas and electric, handled by an independent crew.
  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
