Central AC Installation

We install central air conditioning systems in homes across Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois and West Virginia, replacing a worn out condenser and coil with a matched system sized to the house. Most homeowners call us when their old AC has stopped keeping up on humid afternoons, needs repeated air conditioning repair, or has quit for good. Give us a call and we will come out, measure the house, look at your ductwork and electrical, and walk you through what the job actually involves before anything is ordered.

What a central AC installation involves

A central AC installation is more than swapping a box on a pad. We recover the old refrigerant properly, pull the condenser and the indoor coil, and check the line set to see whether it can be reused or needs replacing. The new coil has to match the furnace or air handler it sits on. We set the outdoor unit level on a solid pad, run the electrical and control wiring, pull a vacuum on the lines, charge the system and test it under real load before we leave.

What we check and install

Before we quote anything we measure the home and count what the house actually needs, because an oversized system short cycles and leaves you clammy. We look at duct sizing, return air, insulation and window exposure. We check the electrical disconnect and breaker, the condensate drain and pan, and the thermostat wiring. On older homes with basement furnaces we often find undersized returns that need attention. The install includes the condenser, the evaporator coil, a new line set where needed, a pad, a float switch and a thermostat if yours is failing.

How we decide replacement is the right call

We would rather repair a system than sell you one you do not need. If your AC is young and the fix is a capacitor or a contactor, that is an air conditioner repair and we will say so. Replacement makes sense when the compressor has failed, when a refrigerant leak is in the coil or buried in the slab, when the unit uses a phased out refrigerant, or when repair costs keep stacking up season after season. We lay out both options honestly and let you pick.

Central AC Installation — quick answers

How long does a central AC installation take?

Most straight replacements take one day. If the ductwork needs modification, the line set has to be rerun, or electrical work is involved, plan on two days. We tell you which one before we start.

Can I keep my existing furnace?

Often yes, if the blower and cabinet suit the new coil and the furnace has life left in it. We check compatibility during the visit. If the furnace is near the end, replacing both together usually makes more sense.

Does new central AC help with humidity?

A correctly sized system runs longer, steadier cycles and pulls more moisture out of the air, which matters through our humid summers. An oversized unit cools fast and leaves the house damp, so sizing is the part we take time on.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. We ask what changed, when it started, and what the thermostat reads. That short conversation tells us whether you need a visit today or tomorrow morning.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and ducts, and the equipment itself. We find the actual cause instead of swapping parts and hoping the noise goes away.

  3. Step 3

    You decide before we work

We explain what failed, what the repair involves, and what we would do if it were our own house. Nothing gets replaced until you say go. Then we test the system before leaving.

Why homeowners call us

  • Old houses and new onesWe are used to century-old homes with retrofitted ductwork and 1970s subdivisions with original returns. Tight crawl spaces, low basement headroom and odd attic runs are normal parts of the day for us, not surprises that stall the job.
  • Built for the swingsHumid summers push AC systems hard and January freezes expose weak igniters and cracked flues. We repair for both extremes across the region, so the fix holds when the weather turns instead of failing the first hard week.
  • Air conditioning and heating bothAir conditioner repair in July, heating repair in January, and the IAQ and airflow problems that hide in between. One crew that knows how your cooling and heating share the same blower and the same duct system.
  • Plain talk, no pressureWe tell you when a repair makes sense and when replacement is the honest answer. No scare tactics about your BTU load, no upsell scripts. You get the condition of the system and a clear next step.

  • Straight answersIf a system is not worth repairing, we say so, often right on the phone.
